Tip #1: Keep the Water Clean

No one wants to swim in an area covered in trash, oil spills, or sewage leaks. Keeping the water clean will help ensure that people stay safe while swimming or boating. It also keeps local wildlife safe since they won’t be exposed to harmful substances like acid rain, mercury, coal ash, bacteria, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, oil spills, etc.

Tip #2: Find a Proper Disposal Site

In today’s day and age, it is not possible for people to completely get rid of their trash. Food waste needs to be composted or thrown out with the regular garbage; recyclables need to be recycled, etc. Find a proper disposal site that can handle all of these things so that nothing goes into landfills and everything gets recycled as much as possible.

Tip #3: Clean Up After Your Pets!

Pet waste is full of bacteria and parasites that could make other pets sick if they ingest it. Even if your dog doesn’t make a mess inside your house, some pet waste from the yard will still end up on sidewalks and in fields where others dogs play, and kids play. Pick up after your pets and dispose of them properly at a designated disposal site.

Tip #4: Keep Vegetation Under Control

No one wants to step on weeds, but they can be hazardous for people and animals if they grow out of control. Keeping vegetation under control ensures that pets, kids, and adults can walk around without having to worry about getting scratched by thorns or stepping on sharp edges. Cut grass regularly so that nothing is able to take root!

Tip #5: Pick Up Trash Regularly

Trash might not be harmful itself, but it does provide homes for some pests like rats, cockroaches, mosquitoes, mice, etc. If trash is everywhere, these creatures will move into the community looking for food sources which means they might end up in people’s houses. Pick up trash regularly to discourage these pests from hanging around. Also, get dumpsters for rent when organizing any event in your community to ensure that all trash ends up in a safe place.

Tip #6: Do a Good Deed

A Clean and Healthy Community is a place where everyone feels safe and comfortable. Doing a good deed — like helping to pick up litter, offering someone a ride home, etc. — can make people feel even safer since they know that people in the neighborhood care about their well-being. It’s also helpful for kids because it teaches them empathy for other people, which is an extremely important skill!

Tip #7: Plant Some Flowers

Flowers are not only beautiful to look at, but they provide homes for many insects. They will attract butterflies, bees, ladybugs, etc., which helps ensure that pest populations stay low in the area. Additionally, humans love flowers, so having some will increase property values as more potential homeowners are attracted to the area.

Tip #8: Go Green

Green energy is cleaner than other sources, so using it will help keep your community clean. Solar panels are great for this! They don’t give off carbon dioxide or other harmful gases into the atmosphere, they don’t destroy forests to make room for them, and they provide lots of good jobs in their creation. If you can’t buy solar panels right now, make sure to at least go green with your utility company to ensure that all electricity comes from renewable resources like wind power and hydroelectric power plants.

Tip #9: Be Kind!

No one likes living around people who are rude or disrespectful. Find ways to show kindness in your day-to-day life by opening a door for someone, smiling at a stranger, or sending thank you cards to people who have gone above and beyond to help your neighborhood. Your positive actions will inspire others to do the same!

Tip #10: You Make a Difference!

You may think that your small actions don’t impact the Clean and Healthy Community around you, but they do. Every single person can make a difference by doing small things like picking up trash or recycling to ensure that everything stays clean and healthy around them so people can have a better quality of life. No matter how big or small your actions are, you’re making positive changes in your neighborhood every single day!

If you want to create a Clean and Healthy Community, it starts with small things. From picking up litter on the street corner or recycling at home to planting flowers in your front yard for children who may be walking by, every action makes a difference!
